We’ve been receiving this number for over a year now. We’ve been calling the “exacqvision” number for a while now and it hasn’t been very nice. It’s a pretty crappy number, and we are not sure we can trust it.
exacqvision is the company that we’ve been speaking with, and the people who have been answering the phone are not very happy with them. They have pretty severe security problems. They’ve been trying to get us off the phone, even going so far as to threaten to call the police, but we’ve been refusing. So our calls are pretty much completely automated.
Our first time-looping is the most annoying part of the game. It’s like you’ve been watching your neighbor’s dog for more than 20 minutes or so and they’re petting you. If you have an old dog, they’re gonna do you a favor by calling you a “vocal dog.
You know how annoying it is when that happens? When I have my phone ring while I’m cooking dinner, my dog will start getting agitated. The second time that happens, I get all mad and start yelling at the dog to stop.
The second time, our new tech support guy, Mr. Snagga, does a pretty good job of calming my dog down. When I tell him I’m not hungry, he asks if I’m okay, which I’m assuming he’s checking on me to make sure I’m fine. I’m not fine. We’re in the middle of the game and I’m just gonna eat dinner and go to bed.
When I don’t want to eat dinner, I ask Mr. Snagga, “What’s wrong with you?” He just gets a nice, happy face. I’ll tell you what he’s doing: he’s not worried about me, but he’s worried about you. I’m happy that you’re okay. He’s just going to check on you.
A lot of times we find ourselves thinking about where the next time we check on him, we’re just going to make sure he’s okay. I’m not sure which is the better approach. I mean, I know I’ve got a dog, and I don’t want him to eat that food. But I’ve got a kid, and he’s gonna be fine.
It’s like the time I went to the doctor and he said I had a hernia, and I said, “Oh, I’m so sorry!” And he said, “No, it’s fine. You don’t have a hernia.” Then he gave me the number for the vet, and I called the number.
That was a good example of how we don’t think about this stuff as much as we should. I’ve got a lot of friends who are in their 30s and 40s. But they don’t have kids, so they don’t have to worry about their families. And they don’t have to worry about them getting hurt because they’re not around anymore. They’ve got all these other things they can do.
But exacqvision’s tech support is something they have to deal with. And for people like us, who are looking forward and thinking about the future, we get to deal with this “should I have to call them?” crap. We should be thanking them. We should have the skills we’ve got. We’re not all that special. So they should be thanking us.
